New Product:
"Hyperformance" Jump Rope and Training System
The perfect exercise and the building block to fitness.
Low impact, safe and fun.
EMETY AG, Leverkusen . Furthering the range of unique and innovative sports products, we are pleased to announce the inclusion of possibly the most important and revolutionary development of traditional sports equipment:
The Hyperformance Jump Rope system - a totally new technology resulting from 15 years of research by Buddy Lee , US Olympic wrestler, 10 time world medallist, 20 times national champion and trainer/advisor to 25 US Olympic teams.
Buddy Lee's Jump Rope with its patented swivel-bearing system and PVC rope provides the perfect exercise and building block for fitness - simple, inexpensive, portable and "use-anywhere" features result in a product that requires a minimum of space but, when used correctly, can provide the maximum improvement on fitness in a short space of time.
A quick comparison of Buddy Lee's system with other popular types of equipment:
Leather rope has been on the market for at least 90 years but is slow in comparison to PVC and is not adjustable in length, so the athlete is forced to either make wide circles with the wrists or crouch over to compensate for either too much or too little rope.
Licorice speed rope is a good basic speed rope for learning the basic skills of jumping but is not fast enough to improve reflexes for competitive advantage. The rope can only be adjusted by tying knots in the handles.
Beaded rope consists of plastic segmented links threaded onto a thin cord and is common in elementary schools, designed for use outdoors and jumping on hard surfaces such as concrete. Depending upon its weight this rope can help novices. The rope is not easily shortened and, when worn, can break allowing the beads to fly hazardously in all directions potentially causing eye injury.
Cotton or nylon ropes are made of the slowest materials turning poorly and creating excessive drag. Regardless of how quickly the rope is turned, these ropes won't respond fast enough or benefit anyone in training.
Heavy rope is commonly thought to help develop upper-body strength. However, if the athlete is an unskilled jumper, the heavy rope can cause too much stress on the body resulting in injuries from improper turning. Heavy ropes are not adjustable and will not improve hand or foot speed.
All of the above ropes can suffer from twisting and require interrupting the training session.
Buddy Lee's Hyperformance swivel-bearing ropes are available in three different models:
All of these jump ropes have a patented swivel-bearing system and an aerodynamically optimised and perfectly weighted PVC rope for more efficient training without the risk of twisting or unwanted impedance. These ropes are simply adjusted to the athlete's individual height requirement.
Aero Speed is a short handled rope suitable for all-out speed and power jumping. It is recommended for adults and children over the age of 13.
Rope Master is a long-handle rope suited not only to speed and power but also to intricate skills such as arm, leg and body crosses. It is recommended for adults and children over the age of 13.
Junior speed is a short-handle rope well suited to small hands and children up to 12 years of age.
Designed to provide benefit to men and women at work, athletes, fitness enthusiasts, children, sports novices, seniors and those recovering from injuries or operations, these products offer benefit to everyone .
Jumping rope incorporates all the muscle groups and joints of the upper and lower body, it has greater fat-burning benefits than most cardiovascular activities, improves coordination and muscle control for almost every form of sport and (as many medical reports have already documented on the influence of regular sports activity) also considerably helps to counter the development and effects of osteoporosis.
Use the Buddy Lee training system to improve speed of movement, agility, explosiveness, and concentration. Train the body to respond more effectively in a wide range of sports and day-to-day activities. Benefit from better shape and improved level of fitness. Become more confident, improve posture, be less susceptible to injury and improve the resistance to colds, influenza and other common illnesses.
When evaluating the benefits this system can offer, consider the following:
10 minutes of rope jumping at 120 rpm is comparable to
- Cycling 3,2 km in 6 minutes
- Tennis playing 2 sets
- Running 1,6 km in 12 minutes
- Swimming 12 minutes
- Jogging 30 minutes
- Handball 20 minutes
Buddy Lee's training programme defines the benefits related to virtually all forms of sport including martial arts, boxing, wrestling, football, tennis, basketball, volleyball, ice hockey, golf as well as general fitness and injury rehabilitation. A DVD and instruction book ensure correct use for beginners and advanced users of the Jump Rope to ensure the maximum of results and minimising misuse. In four easy steps Buddy Lee's system teaches you how to master the skill, become proficient at jumping, build to a basic jump rope capacity of 500 jumps in five minutes and then increase to jump sessions of 10 minutes providing the equivalent payback as 30 minutes of jogging.
The Buddy Lee concept defines 15 techniques and programmes to improve cardiovascular fitness, encourage weight loss and optimise athletic performance.
The American Heart Association (as one of the highest authorities) strongly promotes jump rope as an activity providing cardiovascular health to fight heart disease and stroke.
Since 1996 Buddy Lee is recognised as the leading jump rope trainer by the Olympic committee having lectured and presented his product more than 4000 times in more than 40 countries around the world.
Chiropractors recommend the Buddy Lee system because of the benefits gained by this low-impact sport to the body core, posture and the positive influence on bone density to prevent osteoporosis.

I feel Buddy Lee's approach to cross conditioning for sports represents all the best of science, innovation, and practicality. He does not focus on rigid programming, equipment, or fitness trends. His focus is on the body (where the focus of all conditioning should start). He emphasizes timing, coordination, agility, body awareness and body control. These elements provide both improved performance and injury prevention. These are also the words we use to describe the great ones'. All great sports coaches have continuously maintained a focus on fundamentals (no matter how great or popular they may have become). I feel Buddy represents the same fundamentals philosophy for conditioning. I consider him a friend, a peer and an expert in his field.
Coach John Davies of "Renegade Rope Training"
World renowned master of rope work, Buddy Lee, a former Olympic Wrestler and two time USMC athlete of the year, has helped illuminate the tremendous benefits for modern sport and those concerned with their general health. Simply put, this might be the perfect exercise for everyone from elite athletes and bodybuilders to the average adult and child.
Audrey Wiesiger ('98 US Olympic Coach, former coach of Michael Weiss - national champion skater and World Bronze Medallist):
I use rope jumping as part of the training and conditioning program for all my young skaters. I am particularly impressed with how rope jumping has increased the 'efficiency of movement' of my athletes.
Michael Gostigian
('88 & '92 US Olympian & World Record holder):
Not a day goes by without me using this rope - in every training I use it for warming up in fencing, weight training, and even for swimming I need it! (a 5 - 10 min. session on the pool deck saves me from spending excessive time and mental energy in the water). Also, I use it as a substitute for my running training when there is inclement in weather. As you know this jump rope you designed is the best on the market and an athlete's best training partner. So thanks for helping me out and being an integral part of my Olympic training.
Johnny Angel
(President US Professional Tennis Registry Florida, Coach to player on the ATP and WTA Tours):
I first met Buddy at the US Open in 1999 and was amazed at his knowledge and willingness to help design a jump rope program for tennis player. Well let me say that what he came up with was outstanding and far exceeded my wildest dreams. We have seen impressive results using Buddy's program and products at my tennis academy Johnny Angel World Class Tennis. All I can say is I recommend Buddy Lee to anyone who wants serious fitness gains and wants to maintain their level of fitness. Keep up the good work Buddy. Tennis needs you.
Albert Kirschner (80 year old Jumper): Albert Kirschner, 80, recently returned from his routine doctor checkup to find out what he already felt; his cholesterol levels were normal, his blood results looked great and his heart was stronger than ever. Jumping rope for the past seven years, combined with a good diet and strength training has added quality to his life. Today Albert jumps three times a week for a total of 30 to 45 minutes (1-3 minutes non stop) and participates in all kinds of other fitness activities at his YMCA. This past winter, when Albert slipped and fell on the ice, he was fortunate to be able to catch himself with his hands. The incident left him with only a few minor scratches, but it made him realize how rope jumping had improved his reflexes, which had possibly saved his life. Albert says: "I am still jumping and can jump as fast as 165 times in one minute".
FBI
Kevin Chimento (Physical Training Assistant):
Thank you for demonstrating the positive effects of rope jumping for law enforcement personnel. It will help them improve their cardiovascular endurance and develop their hand/eye coordination and allow them to exercise when on field assignments
